News for current bus riders:

The deduction for Bus Card Plus charges for September was delayed and was taken out of your November 23, 2007 paycheck.

The deduction for Bus Card Plus charges for October was delayed and was taken out of your January 4, 2008 paycheck.

The deduction for Bus Card Plus charges for November was delayed and was taken out of your February 15, 2008 paycheck.

The deduction for Bus Card Plus charges for December was delayed and will be taken out of your March 14, 2008 paycheck.

The deduction for Bus Card Plus charges for January was delayed and will be taken out of your April 11, 2008 paycheck.

The deduction for Bus Card Plus charges for February will be deducted when available at a later date.

Delays are due to the fact that the new fare boxes are not interfacing with Phoenix Transit and the Bus Card Plus billing system.

Riding The Bus

Riding the bus can save you time and money. Each day, hundreds of State employees climb aboard a Valley Metro bus and enjoy a quiet and relaxing commute. Even if you have never ridden the bus, now is the time to give it a try. Valley Metro Local, Express, and RAPID buses can get you to work, often, in the same time it takes to drive. But during your drive, instead of dealing with gridlock and the high cost of driving, you can relax and read a book, do paperwork, or chat with other passengers. If you are not sure what route to take, or if you need an updated bus book schedule, call 602.542.RIDE or go Valley Metro's website www.valleymetro.org. You can also contact a Valley Metro route specialist directly at 602.253.5000.

Bus Card Plus Subsidy Program

Take advantage of the bus subsidy program. Sign up for Bus Card Plus; it's like a credit card for the bus. The card is free, and by using it, you can take advantage of the subsidy the State provides; the remainder of the fare is automatically deducted from your paycheck.

Effective April 24, 2008, the current bus subsidy of 65% will be reduced to 50%.

What This Means for Local Bus Riders:

Your current per ride cost is .44 cents and will change to .63 cents.

Your current monthly maximum is $15.75 and will change to $22.50.

What This Means for Express/Rapid Bus Riders:

Your current per ride cost is .61 cents and will change to .88 cents.

Your current monthly maximum bus is $23.80 and will change to $34.00.

You are only charged for the rides you take. To obtain an application, see your personnel representative or download the online application here. Once you complete the actual Bus Card Plus application, return it to your personnel office. In a week or two, your personnel representative will contact you to arrange for you to pick up your card at your agency personnel office. Questions? Call 602.542.RIDE.

Private Bus Ticket & Subsidy Program

If you currently commute from the Arrowhead area to the Capitol, have you considered the private bus service offered by All Aboard America? The Private Bus Ticket & Subsidy program offers State employee the option of utilizing this special All Aboard America private bus route. For more information about this specific route, call All Aboard America at 480.962.6202. If you find that you would like to utilize this option, complete a special Private Bus Ticket & Subsidy application and return it to Capitol Rideshare. Capitol Rideshare will then issue you tickets. You present your ticket, plus a valid Bus Card Plus card each time your board. If you are interested in obtaining an application for the Private Bus Ticket & Subsidy program (remember you must also have a Bus Card Plus Card), call Capitol Rideshare at 602.542.RIDE. We can also assist you in obtaining a Bus Card Plus card if you do not already have one.
